What NOT to use on your Cloth Nappies

Worried about washing and caring for cloth nappies? Worry no more because there isn't much that can go wrong if you know what to avoid when it comes to maintaining your gorgeous cloth nappies and cloth nappy accessories.

Fabric Softener

Fabric softener can coat the fibres of the fabric causing them to repel rather than absorb liquids.

There are however some softeners that are deemed suitable (by people with more knowledge in this area than us!).

For a budget option you could use Biozet Attack + Softener which you can often find at half price in Woolworths | Coles or for an eco-friendly option you could use B Clean Co Soft Laundry Detergent. You can find an extensive list of suitable detergents over at Clean Cloth Nappies.

Vinegar

Vinegar may breakdown components of your nappy.

Sun & Heat

Sun and heat can break down the waterproof lining in your cloth nappy shells and covers. Dry these inside or outside in the shade to keep to maintain their integrity.
