Reusable Cloth Wipes: How & How Many?!

Cloth wipes are a ecofriendly, skin friendly and budget friendly alternative to disposable wipes. Thinking of adding cloth wipes to your stash? How many do you need and how do you use them?
How Many? We would say 30 wipes is the average stash size for nappy change time. Add more if you want less pressure on your wash routine frequency or if you want to use them for dirty little faces or hands as well.
You will also need a container to store your wipes in on the change table (a waterproof one if you want to use the pre-wet method below) and a wet bag to store them in when out and about. If you want to wet them as you go you will also need a water bottle handy too.
How to Use:
Really, this comes down to personal preference.
Wet as you go: Some people like to keep the wipes dry and only wet them when they are needed. An easy way to do this is to have a water bottle/ spray bottle or even an old sauce bottle (washed) nearby to apply the water (with or without wipe solution) to the wipes as you go.
Pre-wet: For this option you need a waterproof container to store your wipes in. Fill the container with water (and mix in your wipe solution if you have one) and then add 2 days worth of cloth wipes (10-15 approx). Once you have added the wipes, press down to soak them and flip over if required to ensure an even distribution of moisture. Tip out or squeeze out any excess moisture if required and they are ready to go!
We recommend you use the wipes within two days of adding moisture to ensure maximum freshness.
Do I need wipe solution?
You can get away with just water if you want to keep it nice and simple, especially in the newborn stage when bub's skin can be extra sensitive. Another option is to use a small amount of bub's body wash or even some baby safe essential oils (if deemed safe, please follow manufacturer's specifications) mixed in with the water.
